Bonnie Kay Coon, age 70, passed away on May 15th after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born on June 16th, 1953 in Columbus, Ohio to Kenneth and Dorothy Leesburg. A barber her entire life, Bonnie cut hair at Carl's Barber Shop in Oak Hill, Ohio before opening the South End Barber Shop in Wellston, Ohio where she provided barber services for a large customer base until her retirement.
She was a lover of all animals and the outdoors. She was proceeded in death by her husband Charles (Charlie) Coon, father Kenneth M. Leesburg, mother Dorothy Davis, brother Ralph Leesburg, brother Jeff Leesburg, and step-son Larry M. Coon. She is survived by her sons Mark Lyle (Chapin, SC) Sean Lyle (Upper Arlington, OH), sisters Jo Ann (Allen) Keller and Penny (Mark) Hackbarth (both of Columbus, Ohio). multiple grandchildren and step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with ashes interned in a private crypt for Bonnie and Charlie's ashes will be held on October 5th at Vinton Memorial Cemetery at 11:30am. A memorial gathering and luncheon will follow at the Vinton Town Hall, 121 Clay St., Vinton, Ohio where family will receive friends and neighbors.
